Mongolian beef with homemade Mongolian sauce is an easy and tasty beef recipe. Mongolian beef tastes slightly chewy, sweet and spicy.
Mongolian Sauce:
Mongolian sauce tastes sweet, spicy, salty with a flavor of garlic and ginger. This sauce is easily available at stores but you can fresh and flavorful Mongolian sauce at home with just a few ingredients. You can use this sauce in beef, chicken or shrimp stir fries.
1. Chop the garlic and ginger finely.
2. In a sauce pan, heat a tsp of oil, add finely chopped garlic and ginger and sauce for seconds until nice aroma comes out.
3. Add soy sauce, water, brown sugar, red pepper flakes and boil the sauce until the sugar dissolves completely.
Smart Cooking Tips:
1. Use boneless, skinless beef in this recipe. Slice them into thin strips using a sharp knife.
2. Coat the thinly sliced beef strips evenly with cornstarch and set for at least 10 mins.
3. Use dark brown sugar and dark soy sauce for an excellent flavor but you can also substitute with light brown sugar and light sodium less soy sauce.
4. If you don’t have a wok, you can use a wide skillet and cook the beef strips over a high heat.
How to serve Mongolian beef?
Serve Mongolian beef with white rice.
MONGOLIAN BEEF WITH MONGOLIAN SAUCE

- 1.50 lb BEEF ((boneless and skinless))
- 0.50 cup SUGARS BROWN
- 0.50 cup WATER
- 1 tap SALT TABLE
- 1 tsp PEPPER BLACK
- 2 tsp RED PEPPER FLAKES
- 2 tbsp SOY SAUCE
- 0.25 cup CORNSTARCH
- 0.25 cup OIL
- 2 tsp GARLIC
- 1 tsp GINGER
- 0.50 cup SPRING ONION

Slice the beef thinly and season with salt and pepper. Toss with corn flour evenly and set aside for 10 – 15 mins.

In the mean time start preparing the Mongolian sauce: In a saucepan, heat a tsp of oil, add finely chopped garlic and ginger and saute until nice garlic aroma comes out.

Add soy sauce, water, red chili flakes, brown sugar and cook until the brown sugar dissolves completely.

In a wok, heat oil, add beef slices and cook until the beef color changes. Remove the beef from a wok using a slotted spoon or spatula and spread on a paper towel to remove excess oil.

Remove the remaining oil from the wok and add the cooked beef strips again to the wok. Add the Mongolian sauce and cook until the sauce becomes thick.

Add chopped spring onion and cook for another one more minute. Turn off the heat and transfer to a serving bowl and serve with white rice.
