  • 4 no Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse® Hearty White Bread
  • 0.25 cup Shredded Cabbage
  • 0.25 cup Shredded Carrot
  • 1 tbsp Onion Chopped
  • 2 tbsp Bell Pepper Chopped
  • 1 tbsp Mayonnaise Light
  • 0.50 tsp Salt (to taste)
  • 0.25 tsp Pepper Powder
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  1. In a bowl combine cabbage, bell pepper, carrot, mayonnaise, salt, onion, pepper powder and mix well.
  2. Apply a generous amount of butter on each slice of the bread and spread veg mayo mixture evenly. 

  3. Place another slice of a bread on the veg mayo mixture and grill or toast on the stove top using a skillet until golden brown. Veg mayo sandwich is ready to serve.

Besan halwa is an easy and simple sweet recipe. Roasted chickpea flour, ghee, and jaggery together make a delicious sweet. From kids to everyone loves this sweet. It is an excellent sweet recipe for the parties and potlucks with a large crowd. The smaller portion of besan flour yields a large amount of halwa. Smart Cooking Tips:

  1. Roasting the halwa to a golden brown without getting burned is an important step in this sweet. If it is not roasted properly the halwa won’t taste good.
  2. You can replace the jaggery with sugar.

  3. Adding dry fruits are optional.

Besan (chickpea) flour is gluten-free and rich in fiber and nutrients. It is low in carbs compared to the wheat flour, all-purpose flour, and corn flour. Besan halwa with jaggery is a healthy dessert option. Jaggery is a healthy alternative to the refined sugar. It is known for its unique taste and flavor with lots of health benefits. You can also reduce the amount of jaggery to 1/3 cup for a less sweetness in the halwa.

  • 1 cup Besan (Chickpea Flour)
  • 0.50 cup Jaggery Powder
  • 1.50 cup Warm Milk
  • 0.25 cup Ghee
  • 0.50 tsp Cardamom Powder
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Nuts (optional)
  1. In a pan, heat ghee, add besan flour and roast over a low to medium flame until the color changes to golden brown. This step may take 12 to 15 minutes.
  2. Add powdered jaggery and mix well. Add warm milk and cook until the halwa becomes thick (keep mixing). 

  3. Add cardamom powder and mix well. Garnish with chopped nuts and serve.

How to serve besan halwa?

You can serve besan halwa warm or cold as a dessert. It is also excellent after-school snack option for the kids.

  • 0.50 lb Broad Beans (Avarakkai)
  • 1 cup Onion Medium Size Chopped
  • 2 no Tomatoes
  • 4 tbsp Oil
  • 0.50 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 10 no Curry Leaves
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  1. Rinse the broad beans in water and cut them finely.
  2. In a pan, heat oil, add chopped onion, curry leaves, and cook until the onion becomes soft.

  3. Add turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste and cook until the ginger garlic paste loses its raw smell.

  4. Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, salt, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala and cook until the tomatoes become soft and mushy.

  5. Add chopped broad beans, little amount of water and mix well. Cover and cook until the broad beans become soft (keep stirring and sprinkle water often to avoid the masala from getting burned). Broad beans masala is ready to serve.

How to serve broad beans masala?

Serve broad beans masala as a side dish with chapati or roti.
