Cooking ideas for Salmon

cooking ideas for salmon

The healthy vegetables streak is over, you would have seen the last couple of weeks was totally green, healthy stuff like broccoli, cauliflower and so on. For me it’s ok, but for my family, it was too much of veggies. They needed a break from it. My husband even started showing faces. I admit it was quite a lot, I made them for almost every day for 2 weeks. Now I think that I should have planned one something else in between.

After all that, I decided to spice up with some seafood. The choice was Salmon. Salmon is again a healthy one, but it gives you a lot of tasty recipe choices. Traditionally you can just toss in the pan or grill and bake it with some basic seasoning, it will still taste great.

But I wanted to do it little differently. I wanted to add some spices to make some interesting recipes.

Little bit about Salmon

Salmon is an excellent source of many vitamins and minerals. Especially high in omega 3 fatty acids and protein. Salmon is also low in mercury, which makes it good for people of all ages.

Buying Salmon: When choosing to buy salmon, avoid farm raised ones. As these ones are often fed with corn or soy based food, so they are not as healthy as the wild salmons. Also these salmons doesn’t have to be fresh, the frozen ones are equally good as the fresh ones.

Salmon recipes.

Shredded salmon with onion and green chilies as side for dinner. – This one can go as a side or even a snack too. A very Indian style recipe, which filled with lots of spice and aroma.

Spicy pan seared salmon for lunch – So easy that you can go home for lunch, cook it and eat it too. Especially if you are on a healthy diet, it is the best alternative to eat those tasteless healthy stuff.

Salmon gravy for dinner – This one goes well with rice, or Dosa or Idly. May be you can also add the shredded salmon as a side to it. I created a salmon dinner menu to make it easy for you.

Salmon cakes for appetizers – This is also called as cutlet, I sure everyone will love this. I am even including people who generally don’t like fish or Salmon. A fair warning, watch out for calories on this one. Before you know it, you would have had many of these cakes.

Salmon bites for snacks – This is definitely for salmon lovers, if you are entertaining your guest and want to impress them. This one can come in handy for you. Or if you want to add more omega3 and protein in your kids diet,

For easy reference I have collected these recipes as Salmon cookbook too.

Enjoy and don’t forget to let me know if you have a good salmon recipe.
