Mint chutney is an easy and healthy side dish that goes well with Dosa. Fresh mint leaves, onion, and red chilies together make a delicious chutney.

Mint is a healthy herb with tons of goodness. It is used as a natural mouth freshener. It helps to promote digestion and treating inflammation. The strong smell of mint leaves is a quick remedy for treating nausea and vomiting.

Smart Cooking Tips:

1. Adding coconut is optional.

2. You can replace the red chilies with green chilies.

Side Dish For Dosa:

Dosa is a traditional South Indian breakfast. It is served with chutney and sambar. There are varieties of chutney recipes that serve with dosa. Coconut chutney, tomato chutney, onion chutney,  peanut chutney are the popular South Indian recipes that taste spicy and delicious. You can even serve Chutney with Idli, Medu Vada and Paniyaram.

 

Mint Chutney For Dosa

Mint chutney is an easy and healthy side dish that goes well with Dosa. Fresh mint leaves, onion, and red chilies together make a delicious chutney.

  • 1 cup Mint Leaves
  • 1 cup Onion Chopped
  • 3 no Dry Red Chilies
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 0.50 tsp Tamarind Paste or 1 inch piece of raw tamarind
  • 0.25 cup Coconut
  1. In a pan, heat oil, add chopped onion, red chilies and cook until the onion becomes soft (If you are using raw tamarind, add it now).

  2. Add mint leaves and saute until the mint leaves become soft. Turn off the heat, add the shredded coconut, mix well and allow to cool.

  3. In a blender, add the cooked onion mint leaves mixture, tamarind paste, salt and blend to a smooth paste. Mint chutney is ready to be served.

 

How to serve mint chutney?

Serve mint chutney with Dosa, Idli, and Medu Vada.
