What is tutti frutti?
Tutti frutti is a candied raw papaya, you can find in Indian grocery stores. It is tiny cubes available in red, green and yellow color. Tutti frutti is widely used in sweets, cookies, cakes, and ice cream. It gives a nice sweet and slightly crunchy taste to the dishes. Karachi biscuits are the popular Indian cookies with tutti frutti.
Smart Cooking Tips:
1. You can use mango flavored custard powder.
2. All purpose flour can be replaced with wheat flour but the cookies are not as soft as the cookies made with the all purpose flour.
3. Add milk little by little, 1 tbsp at a time and knead to a soft and smooth dough. If you add more milk the dough would become too soft and soggy.
4. The cookies still remain soft on the top after baking for 18 to 20 minutes. Once cooled down completely the cookies will become crunchy.
Eggless Cookies:
Eggs are added to the cookie dough for the soft cookies. Recently, I tried many eggless cookies Nan Khatai, Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, Banana Oatmeal Cookies and Chocolate Cookies. These cookies are turned soft and delicious. Karachi biscuits are one of the soft and delicious eggless cookies. It tastes soft, buttery and flavorful cookies with tutti frutti.
