Peanut sundal is an easy, healthy and protein-packed snack, simple to make in just a few mins. Soft boiled peanuts, seasoned with spices, and coconut.
Protein-packed Snack:
Peanuts are rich in protein, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals and healthy fatty acids. The fatty acids in the peanuts help to reduce the bad cholesterols. This peanut sundal is an excellent snack option, it is easy and simple to make in just a few minutes. You can soak the peanut in water before you head to the work. In the evening, you can boil the peanuts and season it and enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee. Kids would also love this delicious snack.
Smart Cooking Tips:
- You can boil the peanuts until soft in the saucepan but it takes slightly longer time compared to the pressure cooker method.

Indian Peanut Recipe:
Peanuts are widely used in the Indian cooking. Peanut chutney, onion peanut chutney, peanut chat, peanut curry are the popular Indian recipes. Skinned and roasted peanuts are available at the Indian grocery stores that help to make the dishes quickly. Roasting and skinning the peanuts are time-consuming task though it is simple to do it at home. Dosa and peanut chutney is my favorite breakfast.
Peanut Sundal
Peanut sundal is an easy, healthy and protein-packed snack. Boiled peanuts, seasoned with spices, and coconut.
- 1 cup Raw Peanuts
- 0.50 cup Onion
- 1 tsp Salt (to taste)
- 0.50 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 tsp Urad Dal
- 2 no Dry Red Chilies
- 2 tbsp Grated Coconut
- 1 pinch Asafoetida
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 2 cups Water
- Soak the peanuts in water for 5 hours. After 5 hours, strain and discard the water from the soaked peanuts.

In a pressure cooker, add peanuts, fresh water, salt and pressure cook for 5 whistles. Let the pressure to cool naturally.

In a skillet, heat a tbsp of oil, add mustard seeds and let it splutter. Add urad dal and saute until the color changes to golden brown.

Add asafoetida and mix well in the oil. Add dry red chilies and saute in the oil. Add the cooked peanuts, grated coconut and mix well. Peanut Sundal is ready to serve.
How to serve peanut sundal?
Serve peanut sundal as a snack or appetizer.
